Santenay Premier Cru Rouge 2022

Tasting notes
In an instant, this wine of character can be discerned through an intense ruby robe. At first scent, it opens to aromas of ripe red berries, as it reveals itself with great precision on the palate, offering an intense and juicy texture. Its lively freshness is accompanied by beautiful bitter notes and a graceful aromatic persistence.
The Vineyard
The “Gravières” Climat, classified as Premier Cru, is situated east of Santenay. Exposed to the south, with vines of Pinot Noir, this parcel enjoys a soil composed of marl and gravelly debris dating from the Upper Jurassic period. In the south of the Côte de Beaune, the Santenay appellation is recognized for its red wines, including “Gravières” wines, which are powerful with a pronounced structure and a beautiful aromatic bouquet.
The Vintage
2022 is synonymous with a vintage of great quality and the return of satisfying volumes.
After a mild and dry winter, the growing season arrived early. Spared by the April frost, the warm spring accelerated plant growth, favoring early flowering and optimal fruit set. After particularly dry spells during winter and spring, late June rains were timely. A hot, dry and at times scorching summer allowed for a good ripening, although in places the vines did react to hydric stress.
Mid-August rainfall will be decisive by constant sunshine until the harvests, which started on 25th August in the Côte de Beaune and 2nd September in the Côte de Nuits.
