Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru 2022
« Les Lavrottes »
Tasting notes
An intense and vibrant bouquet of small red berries and peony precede a full and juicy mouth. The wine’s strength is channelled and balanced by a beautiful tannic structure. Its richness and elegance perfectly embody the appellation. Its palatable finish lingers, as exceptional wines do. Already well balanced and with great ageing potential, it can also be enjoyed in its youth.
The Vineyard
The Premier Cru “Les Lavrottes” is found a little lower on the hillside, just under the Grand Cru Les Bonnes Mares. The vines were planted on a gentle slope facing east. Its name is a reference to its shallow silty clay soils, rich in chert, and its clayey subsoil, which give birth to elegant and intense wines.
The Vintage
2022 is synonymous with a vintage of great quality and the return of satisfying volumes.
After a mild and dry winter, the growing season arrived early. Spared by the April frost, the warm spring accelerated plant growth, favoring early flowering and optimal fruit set. After particularly dry spells during winter and spring, late June rains were timely. A hot, dry and at times scorching summer allowed for a good ripening, although in places the vines did react to hydric stress.
Mid-August rainfall will be decisive by constant sunshine until the harvests, which started on 25th August in the Côte de Beaune and 2nd September in the Côte de Nuits.
